Fliban 100 mg is used to treat low sexual desire in women who have not gone through menopause and have never had low sexual desire in the past. It contains flibanserin 100mg as an active ingredient, which belongs to the drug class of miscellaneous central nervous system agents. It works by binding the serotonin receptors in the brain, resulting in a decrease in serotonin levels and an increase in dopamine and norepinephrine levels.
Indication(s):
Fliban 100 mg tablets are used for the management of hypoactive sexual desire disorder (HSDD) in premenopausal women.
Direction for use:
- Fliban 100 mg tablets should be taken orally once a day at bedtime.
- In case of missed dose, take the medication the following day at bedtime. Do not take Fliban in the morning, and do not overdose.
Contraindications & drug interactions:
Sometimes, it is not safe to use certain medications at the same time due to possible drug interactions. Some drugs that can interact with flibanserin are:
- Nefazodone
- Antifungal medicine containing fluconazole, itraconazole, ketoconazole, posaconazole
- Antiviral medicine to treat hepatitis C containing boceprevir, telaprevir;
- HIV or AIDS medicine containing atazanavir, fosamprenavir, indinavir, nelfinavir, ritonavir, saquinavir
Side-effects:
Common side effects caused by flibanserin tablet are:
- Dizziness
- Tiredness
- Nausea
- Dry mouth
- Trouble sleeping
Precautions and warnings:
- It’s important to note that this medication should not be consumed within 2 hours after drinking alcohol.
- It is recommended to tell your doctor all about your current medications and past medical history.
- If you have liver disease, the use of Fliban 100 mg is strictly prohibited.
It is not recommended to use flibanserin for men.
